Lady ‘Jays softball falls to 7-6

Guthrie High’s softball team lost its first two games last week, but bounced back with a 13-8 victory against Mooreland.

In that game, Codi Hibbs led the way with two doubles and a single, five RBI and four runs scored. Ava Hebensperger, Abbie Eichler and Ashlee Eichler also had three hits. Katelynn Siess and Shelbey Smedley split the pitching duties to secure the win.

The Lady Bluejays (now 7-6) dropped a 14-2, four-inning decision to Mustang to open the week. Saylor Hamilton had the only Guthrie hit, a first-inning, two-run double. Mustang scored nine runs in the fourth and collected five home runs among its 13 hits.

Guthrie lost a 7-5 decision to Crescent, although the Lady Bluejays outhit the Lady Tigers 129. Hibbs led the offense with four hits and scored three runs. Ashlee Eichler and Ava Hebensperger added two hits apiece.

The Lady Bluejays traveled to the Jenks Festival on April 4 for games with Jenks and Broken Arrow, and return home April 10 for games with Crescent and Cushing.
