City and state leaders join community members Oct. 15 to celebrate the new terminal expansion at Guthrie-Edmond Regional Airport. The $7 million project includes a 5,500-square-foot terminal and additional aircraft parking space, marking a major investment in the region’s aviation future.

Guthrie-Edmond RegionalAirport is looking toward the future with a new terminal designed to welcome visitors, support local businesses and create opportunities for regional growth.

City leaders from Guthrie and Edmond joined state and federal officials and community members Oct. 15 to celebrate the $7 million expansion.

The project includes a new 5,500-square-foot terminal, nearly doubling the airport’s existing terminal space, along with approximately 150,000 square feet of additional aircraft parking apron.

Attendees included Congresswoman Stephanie Bice, Sen. Chuck Hall, Rep. Nicole Miller, Guthrie Mayor Adam Ropp, Edmond Mayor Mark Nash and Grayson Ardies, executive director of the Oklahoma Department of Aerospace and Aeronautics.

Bice helped secure $6 million in federal funding for the project. The remaining funding includes $500,000 from the state and a combined $500,000 contribution from Guthrie and Edmond, with each city providing $250,000. The new terminal is planned to include a restaurant open to the public, an outdoor patio overlooking aircraft arrivals and departures, a conference room that can serve as a meeting space and aviation classroom, pilot offices, a 24-hour pilot lounge and office space for airport staff.

Ardies said the expansion will strengthen Oklahoma’s aerospace industry while creating more opportunities for aviation education, business and general aviation activity.

The airport is already home to flight schools, aircraft maintenance operations, ZivkoAeronautics, which manufactures composite aircraft parts, and a pipeline patrol company. Its 5,001-foot concrete runway accommodates a variety of aircraft, including business jets.
