The Logan County Free Fair is back in 2021. The fair book is now available at the Logan County Extension Office at the Logan County Fairgrounds. The coloring contest entries are due today at the extension office.

The indoor entries for the Educational Building will start next Wednesday, Sept. 8. The superintendents will turn their entries in by 4 p.m. The schools will start at 5 p.m. with Mulhall-Orlando bringing in their entries. Guthrie and Coyle have the 5:30 p.m.-6 p.m. time slot to drop-off entries. The South Logan County 4-H group will have the 6 p.m. time slot and Crescent will close out the night bringing their entries in at 6:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. The Educational Building will then be closed for the night.

The building will reopen on Thursday morning and entries from OHCE, 4-H, FFA and Open Class indoor entries will be accepted from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. The judging of all the entries will start at 10:30 a.m. with the building scheduled to open to the public at noon. The building will close at 8 p.m.

Over at the livestock arena on Thursday night is the Farm Hand Olympics with check in at 4:30-5:15 p.m. and the event starting at 5:30 p.m. If you have kids, this is a great event to enter them in and is a lot of fun to watch as well. Kids in Pre-K through the 12th grade are eligible to enter.

On Friday Sept. 10, the Educational Building is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. The 4-H students will again do interactive demonstrations from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. These are very well done in years past. The coloring contest winners are announced at 6:30 p.m. The fun part of the night is the homemade pies, cake, decorated cupcake exhibits and judging. The fair board usually has local city and county officials judging and eating all the goodies. The judging usually takes from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. if all is on time.

Over in the livestock arena, the Bucket Calf competition interviews start at 4 p.m. and then the showmanship show after the interviews. The livestock starts arriving at 4:30 p.m. for Saturday’s show with swine, sheep, dairy cow, beef cattle, meat goats, and dairy goats being entered in 2021. The weigh-ins start at 5 p.m.  The rabbit entry and judging will be in the crops building with entries at 6 p.m. and judging at 7 p.m.

The final day is all about the livestock.
