The Oklahoma Highway Patrol released last Wednesday the findings of their investigation into the fatal boating accident at Guthrie County Club Lake, as well as the identities of the victims.

The boat was likely driven by Kyle White, 38, of Guthrie. The other two passengers were Justin Blake, 33, and Andrew Allison, 29, both also of Guthrie. According to the OHP’s report, the boat was traveling south on the lake, became swamped due to being overcapacity and began to fill with water. All three occupants exited the boat and attempted to swim to shore; however, they were unsuccessful and drowned. All three were pronounced dead at the scene after recovery. Personal flotation devices were not in use by any of the victims.

The report’s official cause of the accident was overcapacity, and inexperience. The condition of the driver is still under investigation and has not yet been listed as a factor in the accident.

The Guthrie News Leader will update this story as new information comes to light.
