The Logan County Board of Commissioners voted Monday to reinstate a countywide burn ban during an emergency meeting as dry conditions continue to create an increased risk of wildfires.
The ban takes effect immediately and applies throughout Logan County.
Commissioners called the emergency meeting to consider renewed restrictions on outdoor burning following continued dry conditions and concerns about fire danger across the county.
The county previously enacted a countywide burn ban Aug. 10 for 14 days.
Under the county’s burnban resolution, burning that could cause a wildfire, including campfires, bonfires, trash burning and other outdoor fires, is prohibited while the ban is in effect. Logan County burn-ban resolutions also provide for certain limited exceptions when specific safety requirements are met.
The resolution is effective immediately for a period not to exceed 14 days unless it is lifted earlier. County burn-ban resolutions allow the ban to be removed if conditions improve, including after sufficient rainfall.
Residents are encouraged to use caution and check with their local fire department or Logan County Emergency Management if they have questions about activities affected by the burn ban.
