At their Aug. 14 meeting, the Logan County Board of Commissioners approved an agreement with CEC Engineering for engineering services for PACT Fund bridge replacements, Bridge No.036 and Bridge No.071A, in the amount of $77,194.00.
“If I can, just to clarify, we don’t know for sure if those are big replacements or repairs. So, this agreement is for either of (those),” District 3 Commissioner Monty Piearcy said. “I can tell you we turned in more funding on that. I don’t know if it’ll be approved or not, but we’re asking for more money and hopefully we can replace both bridges.”
In other matters, Logan County Emergency Management Director Steven Haga said dry weather conditions have kept county fire departments busy despite a countywide burn ban issued last week.
“Just been a busy week with fires on how dry it’s been and had been around a few people not abiding by the burn ban and to make sure people check the rules on that,” he said.
District 1 Commissioner Mark Sharpton said he met with Congresswoman Stephanie Bice last week about seeking Congressional discretionary funding for the county.
“I met with Stephanie Bice,” he said. “She held a thing about her discretionary spending. I don’t know if I have a ready project (ready), but I would like to poke around, maybe trying to find some money for the courthouse. And we’re still working with her and she’s on board with Waterloo Road from I-35 to (State Highway) 74.”
