Hundreds of residents and visitors gathered in Historic Downtown Guthrie on Saturday evening for the inaugural Downtown Downbeat, a new community event hosted by the Guthrie Chamber of Commerce. In partnership with Experience Guthrie, Wander Folk Distillery and made possible through the support of numerous local business sponsors, the event transformed the downtown district into a lively gathering place featuring live music, food trucks, local vendors, children’s activities and a spectacular fireworks finale.
Festivities began at 5 p.m. as vendors opened along Oklahoma Avenue and families filled the KidsArea, sponsored by Integrated Electric, Heating and Air. Attendees browsed local businesses and vendor booths while children enjoyed games and activities throughout the evening. Several downtown retailers and restaurants stayed open later than usual, giving attendees the opportunity to shop, dine and experience Guthrie’s historic downtown while supporting local businesses.
Live entertainment began at 7 p.m. with performances by Jokers to the Right and Jolene Brown, drawing crowds to the downtown stage as visitors settled in with lawn chairs and blankets.
“Saturday night's Downtown Downbeat was an absolute triumph for downtown Guthrie, drawing hundreds of residents and visitors together for a perfect evening of live music, food trucks, vendors and beautiful weather,' said Brittany Timmons, president of the Guthrie Chamber of Commerce.
'Community driven events like this are vital for the Chamber of Commerce, as they stimulate our local economy, showcase our unique culture and welcome outside tourism to our historic town. We could not achieve this success without our partnership with the City of Guthrie and Guthrie Tourism, alongside the crucial support of our amazing sponsors: Wander Folk Distillery, John Vance Auto Group, Integrated Electric Heat and Air, Guthrie Brewing Co. and F&M Bank.'” The evening concluded with a 45-minute fireworks display presented by Fireworkz A Poppin and launched from The Rock football stadium. The colorful display lit up the downtown skyline and drew cheers from the hundreds of spectators gathered throughout downtown.
The success of the inaugural Downtown Downbeat was the result of a collaborative effort between the Guthrie Chamber of Commerce, Experience Guthrie, local business sponsors, vendors, volunteers and community partners who worked together to create a memorable evening for residents and visitors alike.
With strong attendance, ideal summer weather and enthusiastic community support, organizers hope Downtown Downbeat marks the beginning of a new annual tradition that celebrates Guthrie’s vibrant downtown, strengthens community connections and showcases everything the city has to offer.
