Funeral services for Mark Bruning were held at 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at Community Church (512 Seward Road, Guthrie, OK 73044) with Pastor Bill Williams and Chaplin Gene Owen officiating. Visitation was held on Tuesday, August 2nd from 12:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. at Hayes Funeral Home (117 E. Noble, Guthrie, OK 73044). Services were under the direction of Hayes Funeral Home.

The family suggests memorials made to Woodcrest Volunteer Fire Department, 11975 S. Douglas Blvd., Guthrie, OK 73044.

Guthrie Police Lieutenant Mark Bruning was found dead inside of his home last Thursday night with no signs of foul play or self-harm according to the Sheriff’s Department Public Information Officer, Troy Dykes.

“We are all in shock as well, we are a close-knit family in the Sheriff’s office so this was a tragedy for all of us,” Bruning served 20 plus years in the Sheriff’s Office and well respected in the Logan County Community. He will be dearly missed by his many family members, friends, coworkers and all others who knew of his kindness.

“We are at a loss for words and our thoughts and prayers are with the Bruning Family, the Guthrie community and Woodcrest Fire Department where he served as Fire Chief ” concluded Dykes.

Mark Bruning, age 47, of Guthrie, Oklahoma passed away on July 28, 2022. Mark was born on October 31, 1974, to Mark Andrew Bruning, Sr. and Dee (Brooks) Bruning in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Mark graduated from Guthrie High School in 1993. He started working for the Guthrie Police Department in 1995. He married Heather Bouziden on September 28, 2013. Mark was also a firefighter/EMT for the Woodcrest Volunteer Fire Department and served as a Captain. He enjoyed spending time at the lake, fishing, hunting and playing golf. Mark was a member of the Guthrie Masonic Lodge.

Survivors include his wife Heather of the home in Guthrie, mother Dee Bruning of Guthrie, daughter Bailey Bradford and husband Clay of Little Rock, AR, granddaughter AndersonBradfordofLittle Rock, AR, two sisters, Sara Bruning and Sandee White and husband Danny both of Guthrie, grandmother Dorothy Brooks of Yukon. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Whitney Bruning, Samantha Wall, Karson White and Tommy White, mother and father-in-law Mark and Esther Bouziden, brother and sister-in-law Chris and Callie Bouziden and their children Carter, Caitlin and Claire. He was preceded in death by his father, his grandfather Donald Brooks and their dog Gage.
