I cannot believe how fast the summer season has seemed to fly by! Soon, our children will be going back to school and fall sports and activities will be taking place. It is an exciting time for all as we plan for the 2022-2023 school year. Each year, the Guthrie Chamber hosts a “Stuff the Bus” campaign where we work with our local businesses to provide much needed school supplies for Guthrie Public Schools. We are currently accepting school supplies and monetary donations. You can drop off the supplies at any of these great locations: Guthrie Chamber, Cleveland & Co. Mercantile, Guthrie News Leader, The Lewis Agency, Guthrie Public Library, The Grand Ole Barbershop or Rick’s Fine Chocolates & Coffees. All donations must be turned in by August 18th.
Join us on August 11th for our State of the Schools luncheon at Meridian Technology Center South Campus. The program will begin at 11:30AM. We will hear an update from Dr. Simpson of Guthrie Public Schools, Dr. Major of Meridian Technology Center and Dr. Smith of Langston University. This event is open to the public. I will take this opportunity to encourage everyone to do their shopping in Guthrie. Our business community offers most everything you need for back to school. No need to drive elsewhere!
