2022 Sales and Use Tax Revenue Trending Upwards

The sales tax revenue numbers are in for the City of Guthrie from the Oklahoma Tax Commission (OTC). The report covers the sales tax period and estimated sales of June 2022 in comparison to June 2021.

The state reported that the sales tax revenue for June totaled out at $684,690; this total is $17,360 or 3% more than June 2021 and $469,693 or 9% higher as compared to the first nine months of the 2021 fiscal year.

“This is more of a stable or keep what you have budget,” Guthrie City Clerk Kim Biggs said in an email to the city staff and City Council.

There was a 2% cost of living pay adjustment, step increases, 10-15% potential increase in health Insurance cost and higher fuel and materials cost.

“So, finding funding to add new positions will be very challenging,” Biggs said.

The use tax revenue for June totaled out at $78,563. That is $910 or 1% than June 2021, and $57,367 or 8% higher as compared to the first nine months of the 2021 fiscal year.

Year to date (YTD) collection is $5,930,359 which is 1.3% more than YTD projection of $5,854,047. YTD collection is $815,099 which is -2% below YTD projection of $827,527

The fiscal year for Guthrie ends on September 30.
