The pool is open, the sun is shining and summer is officially here.
With the return of summer and the ending of the spring semester at school, parents are often left thinking about how to keep their kids entertained during the long summer months.
Guthrie YMCA is here to help.
The YMCA will be holding weekly summer camps starting Wednesday and ending on August 13th. The camp will be closed on July 4th, but will be running Monday-Friday every other week. Children aged 5-7 will be at Guthrie Upper Elementary School, while children aged 8-12 will be at Fogarty Elementary.
Camper drop off is from 7 a.m. to 9 a.m. and pick up lasts from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
There are camp activities, crafts and games at the schools on Mondays and Fridays. Tuesdays and Thursdays are pool day at the Guthrie Community Pool. Wednesday there is a field trip to somewhere in Guthrie. Anywhere from the Sports Museum to the original Oklahoma Capitol, campers will be sure to have a great time playing and learning.
An itinerary will be given to parents with the weekly schedule at the beginning of the camp; there will also be weekly themes to dress up for. Both lunch and snacks are provided, so campers will just need to bring a bag with a water bottle and any items they might need throughout the day.
