Styling Guthrie’s Hair for 40 Years, Her Work Keeps Growing

Julie Christy loves working in a small town such as Guthrie.

After all, in her line of work, she's no doubt heard plenty of stories and met many wonderful people.

Christy has been styling hair for more than 40 years -- with no plans of stopping.

From her days at Bill’s Hair Design in the '80s to the Heritage Style Shop in the '90s, and now four years in her own shop, Creative Cuts and More, she is dedicated to her calling.

"My past bosses have always taught me something important and I am grateful … Never stop learning and keep growing!” she said.

Christy has been married for 40 years and plans to continue as a barber-stylist in the town she loves, where she enjoys fishing and going to Red Brick Nights downtown with her grandchildren.

Upon retirement, she hopes to be a docent for the Oklahoma Territorial Museum and plans to volunteer at her church.

Creative Cuts and More is open Tuesday through Saturday from 7:30 a.m. until 5 p.m.

“Thank you, Guthrie, for years of patronage and support,” she said.
