Guthrie YMCA Cleans Up the Community Pool

Keeping the community clean and in good repair is a great way to make Guthrie attractive to residents and visitors.

And, just in time for the hot summer months, members of the Highland Park Neighborhood Association and the Guthrie YMCA cleaned up the park and the municipal swimming pool Saturday.

It was a chilly and rather gloomy afternoon, but the volunteers were in high spirits and got a lot of excellent work done. The volunteers worked from 9 a.m. until about 4:30 in the afternoon, painting, cleaning and preparing the park and pool for summer fun.

YMCA volunteer Carole Seid received the YMCA 2021 Volunteer of the Year award that day, as well, recognizing her hard work.

The pool officially will open on May 30 to begin the summer swimming season and will be open until August 14. The pool will be open Monday through Saturday the pool from 11:30 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m.

Located in Highland Park at 929 East Park Place, pool entry is $5 per person, but if you have a Guthrie YMCA membership you can swim for free!

Happy Swimming!
