They’re sporty, they’re fun and they’re…lime! You’ve probably seen them around town as a fleet of 75 lime scooters were delivered ready to ride on May 1. In March, city council agreed to a 90-day trial period with the company Lime Scooters. Renting the scooters are one dollar to start and then .32 per minute.
Director of Tourism Justin Fortney said, “We’re excited to see how much they’re used and how they benefit tourists and residents. The trial period is nice because we can come up with solutions for any problems at beginning.”
Fortney also reported that the city had a really good first weekend with 119 unique riders who took 187 trips. The combined distance was 395.7 miles with the average miles coming in at1.6 miles. Average time on the scooters were 27 minutes.
Renting the Lime Scooters does come with rules. You must first download the app from the App Store or Google Play, be 18+ to operate, wear a helmet and do not ride on sidewalks.
