11,000 marijuana plants seized

The Oklahoma Bureau of Narcotics executed two search warrants April 23 in a return trip to Logan County.

The warrants were a follow-up to the case in which $67,527 was seized on April 12 and two people were arrested.

The search also resulted in the seizure of 11,000 marijuana plants. The Infinity Leaf Farms at 4355 S. Midwest Boulevard in Guthrie was one of the targets on April 23. “While they are legally licensed, there is very little legality with what they are doing. There are large amounts of black market marijuana being produced there,” OBN Public Information Officer Mark Woodward said.

Woodward told the News Leader the plants were approximately a pound each and, depending on the market, $1,500 a plant would be the going rate.

The raid started at 7:15 a.m. at two locations with approximately 50 law enforcement officials between the two houses. The second house is on N. Midwest Boulevard. There were 23 people detained at the two locations, but no arrests had been made as they were still investigating.

“There is evidence that they have been doing this for a while. This was not the first crop at this location. We are not done; this is just one aspect of a much larger investigation. Arrests could be forthcoming.

This investigation started back in March when Dong QiangYang, 41, and Ronghua Chen, 37, who both list Guthrie as their place of residence, were originally charged with Acquiring Proceeds from Drug Activity. Yang and Chen, out on bond, were at one of the locations again when the search warrants were executed on April 23.

According to Woodward, this is an active and ongoing investigation with multiple moving parts. The News Leader will continue to follow the case and make updates as they are passed along from law enforcement officials.
