Mulhall-Orlando FFA Attends Oklahoma FFA Alumni Camp

This year the Oklahoma FFA Association held its 50th Annual Oklahoma FFA Alumni Leadership Camp in Wagoner, Oklahoma. More than 1,600 FFA members from all over the state gathered at the Tulakogee Conference Center for one of four sessions from June 26th to July 9th.

Audition Notice for The Pollard Theatre Company

There is an exciting opportunity for performers in Guthrie and the surrounding area. The Pollard Theatre Company has issued an audition notice. The Guthrie theatre is looking for performers to fill roles in two up coming plays, “Title of Show” and “A Territorial Christmas Carol.

The Center for Agriculture, Food and the Environment at the University of Massachusetts Amherst indicates fall is the ideal time to improve the soil for next season. Amending the soil in the fall allows it to react accordingly over time and reap the benefits in spring.

The Guthrie Public School’s Board of Education meeting had a full agenda Monday, packed with new ideas and projects for the coming fall semester. Guthrie students now have the opportunity to take part in esports clubs after school starting this upcoming fall.

Volleyball is coming to the Guthrie school system

Starting in the fall, indoor volleyball will become a school sanctioned sport at Guthrie Junior High School. It is open to female athletes. It was unanimously approved in a May 9 meeting of the Guthrie Public Schools Board of Education. Janna Pierson made the motion.

City Council Honors Unsung Hero Amy Hurley

The Guthrie City Council and Public Works Authority met for a regularly scheduled meeting last Tuesday, as well as an additional Special Workshop. At the workshop, City Manager Leroy Alsup brought forth an alternate plan on how to budget for the city expenses and projects.

Sales and Use Taxes Remain Steady

In the sales and use tax email from Guthrie City Clerk Kim Biggs, the sales tax amount received is on a sharp upward incline for all points. However, the use tax amount for July this year is lower than July last year and the year to date collection is below the projected amount.

Lazy E Arena Approved for Council Assistance

The Lazy E Arena is a jewel of Logan County and has been a prominent venue for decades. Since its establishment in December of 1984 by E.K. Gaylord, the Lazy E Arena has entertained thousands of patrons for everything from graduation ceremonies to national rodeo competitions.
