Guthrie student elected Oklahoma FCCLA vice president of development

Demarcus Officer of Guthrie High School has been elected vice president of development for Oklahoma FCCLA.Officer was one of 10 students elected during the organization’s state convention at the Arvest Convention Center, which drew more than 4,600 high school students from across the state.

County Board Meeting Notes

Last Thursday, the Logan County Board of County Commissioners approved a countywide burn ban during an emergency meeting. The ban is in effect for up to 14 days which began March 26. Violations of a burn ban can be enforced by any law enforcement officer in the state.

The Guthrie Rotary Club Student of the Week is Holden Ingram. He is the son of Yancey and Tiffany Ingram. Holden is active in FFA, baseball, 4-H Shooting Sports, National Honor Society and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

First Capital Hall of Honor

The First Capital Hall of Honor held its inaugural induction banquet March 27, recognizing six individuals for their military service and contributions to their communities.The program is part of the Oklahoma Military Heritage Foundation, which has operated since 1999.

Logan County Burn Ban In Effect

Logan County Commissioners approved an emergency burn ban during a March 26 meeting, effective immediately and set to last through April 9.The ban restricts all open burning, including yard debris, brush, and other combustible materials, in unincorporated areas of the county.

‘Twister’ Truck Makes L.A. Stop

A piece of Hollywood storm-chasing history is making a special appearance in California before returning home to Oklahoma.“Jo’s Truck” — the iconic yellow Jeep J10 featured in the 1996 blockbuster film Twister — is currently on display at the PetersenAutomotive Museum in LosAngeles.
