Guthrie student elected Oklahoma FCCLA vice president of development

Demarcus Officer of Guthrie High School has been elected vice president of development for Oklahoma FCCLA.

Officer was one of 10 students elected during the organization’s state convention at the Arvest Convention Center, which drew more than 4,600 high school students from across the state.

State adviser Brittani Phillips said newly elected officers will have opportunities to develop leadership skills through several camps this summer.

“The state officers will be responsible for leading the Oklahoma delegation throughout the next year as we grow and reach even more FCS students across the state,” Phillips said. “They will also set goals for themselves and Oklahoma FCCLA for the 2026-2027 school year.”

This marks the 81st state officer team for Oklahoma FCCLA, which was founded in 1946 as the Future Homemakers of America.

Oklahoma FCCLA serves more than 28,000 members in over 400 chapters in junior and senior high schools and technology centers statewide. The organization promotes leadership development through family and consumer sciences education.

FCCLA is one of seven student organizations affiliated with Oklahoma CareerTech. Others include FFA, Business Professionals of America, HOSA, DECA, Technology Student Association and SkillsUSA.
