Planning Commission Approves Permits and Rezoning

Guthrie’s Planning Commission, taking into consideration the community’s projected growth, approved three applications last week regarding future development across the county.

Application Nos.

22-005 and 22-006 were both requests for special use permits, to allow for single-family, manufactured homes in the Forrest Hills subdivision. There was some debate on whether to allow the manufactured homes, since they would not have a permanent, cement foundation. However, both of the applications were approved by 2-1 margins.

Application No. 22-007 was a rezoning request for 706 South Capitol Street, switching from an R-1 single-family dwelling to an R-2 general residential district. The property owners have plans to develop two duplexes on the property, each with two residents, an ample yard and parking space, expanding the property as their family grows. The rezone was unanimously approved.

While nominations and elections for the position of Chair and Vice-Chair were on the agenda, both items were tabled for the next meeting by the only three present members of the commission.
