Emergency crews from around Logan County were called to a plane crash south of Marshall at 11:30 Wednesday.
The crash took place near County Road 64 and MacArthur in far northern Logan County, about 20 miles north of Guthrie.
Only one person was in the aircraft at the time it crashed, 49-year-old Robert Slater of Texas was medflighted to OU Medical Center after the crash, his condition is unknown. He was able to deboard the plane on his own and was conscious, alert and awake when State Troopers arrived on the scene.
He was flying his dual engine Piper Seneca II when he reported double engine failure. He was unable to safely land at an airport, instead landing in a field where he slid 108 feet. The FAA is sending an investigator to survey the scene before the plane, which is still most intact, is removed from the area.
“It was one of the better landings he could’ve done in the circumstances,” State Trooper Jeff Jech said.
