No Child Should Go Hungry: Free Summer Feed Program Returns

When schools break for the summer, there is always an underlying concern that some families might not be able to provide the proper nutrition to their children, especially with higher costs of groceries.

Guthrie Public Schools are again supporting children and families in the community this summer with the Summer Feed Program, June 1-30. It will provide meals for all children 18 and younger throughout the day.

Times and locations include:

* Every Monday through Thursday, the Guthrie Upper Elementary School (GUES) at 702 N. Crooks Drive, will serve breakfast from 8 to 8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Grab and Go meals will be available every Monday through Thursday at:

• Harvest Road and Winter Wheat Drive at the Silver Valley housing addition from 12:05 p.m. to 12:20 p.m.

•Charter Oak Elementary at 4900 East Charter Oak Road from 10 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.

• Mineral Wells Park at 819 South Division Street from 10:45 a.m. to 11 a.m.

• Banner Park at 11th and WQ Warner Avenue from 11:15 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

•Cotteral Elementary at 2001 West Noble Avenue from 11:45 a.m. to noon.

•Central Elementary at 321 East Noble Avenue from 12:30 p.m. to 12:45 p.m.

“We are thankful that we can offer this service to the families in our district,” said Guthrie Superintendent Mike Simpson. “It is not required that you attend Guthrie Public Schools to receive these meals.”

With this kind of support, no child should have to go hungry.
