Memorial Day Memories

Among the ceremonial wreaths of flowers laid before the headstones of fallen warriors, taps is heard gently playing.

The tears of family, friends and loved ones are quiet but profound. They weep for the lost.

The Guthrie VFW held its service at Memory Gardens Memorial Park. American Legion’s service followed at Summit View Cemetery. Local Boy Scout troop 850 and Cub Scout pack 850 placed flags at the graves of the veterans at Summit View Cemetery.

The city of Langston also held Memorial Day services at the WM Conrad Veterans Memorial Garden where, Marlon James, Assistant Vice President for Institutional Advancement and External Affairs, led the service.

Maybe fallen but never forgotten are those who have fought for freedom.
