McCommas, Green advance to runoff in State Senator District 28 election

The contenders have been thinned out.

Two Republicans will go to a runoff in the Oklahoma’s District 28 State Senator race.

Jeff McCommas and Grant Green were the top performers in the vote. Neither got above 50%, so they will go to a runoff.

Jeff McCommas received 28.35% of the vote and Grant Green received 37.16%. The other contenders who did not advance to the runoff were Robert W. Trimble 13.06% and Jamey Mullin 21.43%.

Recently, McCommas detailed to the Guthrie News Leader why he sought office.

I feel we need to put the control of our government back to the people,” McCommas said.

Green did not respond to a request for comment.

McCommas and Green will run against Karen Rackley, the democratic candidate, for the seat in November. If elected, McCommas succinctly told the Guthrie News Leader what they will do first.

Work on lowering the inflation of goods and services we are all experiencing,” McCommas said.
