As Guthrie continues to expand, so does Logan County, and with expansion comes a need for new borders to possibly be drawn.
After Chairman Marven Goodman called the Logan County Board of Commissioners meeting to order on May 13, the survey of a county property in Meridian, Oklahoma, was unanimously approved in order to determine the exact boundaries of Logan County.
Other items that were approved by the Board:
- An American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) Premium Pay claim as approved by Resolution No. 22-015.
- ARPA or the American Rescue Plan Act was President Biden’s plan to address the pandemic that had many effects including:
- Invested about $160 billion to provide the supplies, emergency response, testing, and public health workforce to stop the spread of COVID-19, while distributing vaccines as quickly as possible and addressing racial disparities in COVID-19 outcomes.
- Provided $130 billion to help schools serve all students, no matter where they are learning.
- Distributed more than $360 billion in emergency funding for state, local, territorial, and Tribal governments to ensure that they are in a position to keep front line public workers on the job and paid, while also effectively distributing the vaccine, scaling testing, reopening schools, and maintaining other vital services.
- Appointing Trevor McDougall to fill the vacant spot on the Logan County Floodplain Board.
- Approving Amendment No. 1 for the Emergency Watershed Project agreement with the National Resources Conservation Service for a streambank stabilization project located at NE/4 33-19N-4W, and amending the cash contribution of Logan County to approximately $8,988.
- Approval of a purchase order, not to exceed $15,000, from the CBRI (County Bridge and Road Improvement Fund) to the National Resources Conservation Service for an Emergency Watershed Protection streambank stabilization project in District 3.
- The Emergency Watershed Protection (EWP) Program, is a federal emergency recovery program, that helps local communities recover after a natural disaster strikes. The program offers technical and financial assistance to help local communities relieve imminent threats to life and property caused by floods, fires, windstorms and other natural disasters that impair a watershed.
- A watershed is the area of land where all of the water that drains off of it goes into the same place—a river, stream or lake.
