Hope House Children Injured in Van Rollover

Eight children and an adult male driver from Hope House are expected to make full recoveries from injuries they sustained when their van rolled over Thursday.

The crash took place at 2 p.m. Thursday, on Prairie Grove Road between Kelley Avenue and Santa Fe Road and only involved the one van from Hope House.

According to Hope House representative OJ Myers, six of the children were able to go home immediately with only minor scrapes and bruises. One boy received an abrasion to the skin on his spine, however no stitches were required and he was allowed to return home upon completion of paperwork.

The most severe injury was one boy with a simple break of his upper left humorous; he is expected to make a full recovery.

The Hope House children were excited to eat McDonalds for dinner that night after everyone’s safe release from the hospital.

“They are all happy and healthy and all in all the blessing is no one was seriously injured,” said Meyers.

Hope House Guthrie is a non-profit facility that provides shelter for those in the community who are homeless.
