Spring is in full bloom, summer is on its way and graduation is right around the corner for Guthrie High School seniors. While the spring flowers make for great graduation pictures, the wind, rain and hail do not. This is why graduation services for Guthrie High School have been officially moved indoors to Lazy E Arena, in order to combat the tumultuous spring weather.
The Guthrie High School graduation ceremonies, which were originally scheduled for Jelsma Stadium, will now take place at the Lazy E Arena. The scheduled starting time will remain at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 20th. The building will be open to the public at 6:00 p.m. on that evening. Graduates will be notified of practice details by the GHS staff.
Guthrie Superintendent Dr. Mike Simpson stated; “With the uncertainty of spring weather in Oklahoma, having an indoor venue assures us commencement exercises can occur on the scheduled date. We hope providing this much advanced notice will allow families to notify their invitees of the change. The Lazy E Arena staff continues to be incredibly supportive of our community and we are thankful for their willingness to host this special event. We look forward to celebrating the accomplishments of the GHS Class of 2022.”
