Replacing a water main built in the 1920’s along Division Street from the water plant to Harrison Avenue resulted in a unanimous, favorable vote during the Guthrie Public Works Authority meeting May 3.
The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) provided $300,000, and using local funds to match, the project totals out to $885,649 with an estimated $18,000 for the survey and staking, and $45,000 for engineering supervision.
At the subsequent City Council meeting, a discussion took place regarding Resolution No. 2020-18 to waive the restriction of an individual serving more than two consecutive full terms on any Guthrie Board or Commission and to confirm the Mayor’s appointment of Kate Corbett to the Guthrie Library Board for a new three-year term through May 31, 2025.
This item required an affirmative vote of at least five-sevenths of all members of the City Council but was rejected by a 4-2 vote.
Items that were approved by the council included:
* Ordinance No. 3369, amending the City of Guthrie Code of Ordinances, Chapter 20, Article 11, by adding Section 20-215: “Unlawful Use of Engine and Compression Brakes.”

The ordinance passed 4-2 with discussion from council members on the efficacy of putting up signs to prevent Jake braking.
