The Central Community Foundation provided a grant to A Very Merry Guthrie Christmas Association

The Central Community Foundation provided a grant to A Very Merry Guthrie Christmas Association to help fund Christmas lights at Cottonwood Flats and gifts for the aging citizens in nursing homes and the less fortunate in Guthrie.

A Very Merry Guthrie Christmas aims to improve senior citizens’ lives during the holidays with community outreach programs and gift-giving during the holiday season. Yearlong fundraising efforts conclude at a three-day event in December held at Cottonwood Flats in Guthrie. A Very Merry Guthrie Christmas features Christmas lights, food trucks, vendors, photos with Santa and an illuminated Christmas cruise. Donations from the event help with the purchase of nursing home gifts.

The Central Community Foundation provides grants through the Operation Round Up program at Central Rural Electric Cooperative. Members of CREC can round up their monthly electric bills to the nearest dollar to help organizations and residents in need throughout Central’s seven-county service area.

“I want to thank CREC for the generous donation to A Very Merry Guthrie Christmas. We are so very lucky to have a wonderful community to help with our mission to bring Christmas cheer to the senior citizens of Guthrie. This is our 3rd year to provide gifts to the senior citizens and 2nd year to light the flats, the money that CREC donated will have a lasting impact on our foundation and help us meet our financial goals for the 2022 Christmas season,” said Jason Lewis President of A Very Merry Guthrie Christmas.
