Bee gone: Local beekeeper locates swarm from Downtown Guthrie to farm

Local beekeeper Ben Coffin moved a swarm of bees that took up temporary residence above T and T Hair Salon to a safer place. Coffin moved the bees to his hives at his home in north Guthrie. The queen bee is the key behind moving the hive. Coffin scooped up the queen bee, deposited it in the yellow bucket and waited for the rest of the bees to follow. Coffin wore a beekeeping suit while transferring the bees from the bucket to their new home. Frontier Beekeepers Association meets every third Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the fairgrounds.
