GHS Junior ROTC sponsors First in State Fun Run

Pictured above, the Guthrie Junior ROTC First In State Fun Run on April 23 in Guthrie. There were teams from Guthrie, Edmond North, Mid-Del, and Oklahoma State University entered and a total of 59 runners entered. Edmond North won the team competition.

GHS track teams finish third at Jerry Runyan Relays

The Guthrie High School track teams traveled to Ponca City on April 14 to participate in the Jerry Runyan Relays. Both teams finished in third place as Class 6A Stillwater won the boys’ meet with 155 points while Guthrie had 122 points.

Guthrie Rotary Club Student of the Week

The Guthrie Rotary Club Student of the Week is Sam Wilhelm. He is the son of Jay and Andrea Wilhelm. Sam has been active in Bluejay football 4 years, wrestling 3 years and Mu Alpha Theta 3 years. He is a member of National Honor Society and is a Valedictorian for 2022.

Roberts steps down as GHS Girls’ basketball head coach

Guthrie High School is looking for a new Head Girls’ Basketball Coach after Malcolm Roberts stepped down from coaching earlier this month. Roberts who was hired in May 2018 was 30-42 in the three seasons at the helm. The Lady Bluejays records were 7-15, 11- 13 (pandemic year) and 12-14 this season.

Bluejays lose to Wildcats, 89er Invitational this weekend

Pictured above, Guthrie Bluejays baseball players in action against Piedmont on April 11. The Bluejays (15-5,4-2) would lose 17-1 in a key district game. The Bluejays were scheduled to go to Piedmont (19-3,9-0) last night for the second game of the district series.

Guthrie track teams sweep titles at Shawnee

The Guthrie track teams travelled down to Shawnee on April 8 and overcame a rough day of wind to claim the titles in the boys and the girl’s division. The Bluejays scored 134.273 points to beat out Seminole (104.546 points) and Shawnee (94.546 points).
Oklahoma State is one of only seven teams to post a winning season every year from 2010-20, and one of only three teams with winning seasons each of the past 15 years, averaging around 9.2 wins per year since 2010.

Bluejays basketball heads to Weatherford for tournament action this weekend

The Guthrie Bluejays boys’ basketball team returns to the court this weekend after two weeks off for the holidays. The Bluejays will travel to Weatherford for the Weatherford Classic Tournament. Guthrie opens the tournament tomorrow morning playing Class 4A No. 18 Clinton (3-1) at 11:30 a.m.
