Bluejays lose to Dual State champion Elgin in quarterfinals

Guthrie High’s trip to the Class 5A Dual State wrestling meet was shortlived Saturday afternoon as they lost to No. 2, and eventual champion, Elgin 40-30 in the quarterfinals. The Bluejays got off to a good start as the meet began at 165 pounds.

Carl Albert sinks Guthrie to tighten boys district race

The battle for playoff positioning in the District 5A-1 boys basketball race suddenly got a little tighter after visiting Carl Albert beat the Guthrie Bluejays 60-41 on Friday night. Both teams now have two losses in district play, with the Titans travel to take on Crossings Christian on Feb.

Lady Bluejays fall to Altus,_Carl Albert in district action

Guthrie High’s Lady Bluejays basketball team dropped a pair of decisions last week, losing at Altus 46-44 and then to visiting Carl Albert, 48-34. The Lady Bluejays (6-14, 2-9) played in Elgin (1010, 6-5) on Tuesday night, their last road game of the regular season.

Lady Panthers, Bluejackets win rivalry games in Coyle

Coyle and Mulhall-Orlando renewed their basketball rivalries last Tuesday, and their second regular- season meeting ended in a split of close games. The Lady Panthers came from behind to beat the Lady Bluejackets 50-48 after trailing by 10 early in the game.

Bluejays shoot down Jets 90-48

Guthrie High’s boys basketball team took care of business Friday night, beating Western Heights 90-48 to stay one game behind Crossings Christian in the district standings and one game ahead of Carl Albert for second place. A huge game looms this Friday at 7:30 p.m.
