Guthrie baseball outlook upbeat after Arizona trip

A recent trip to Arizona proved fruitful for the Guthrie High baseball team, which split four games over spring break but knocked off one of the best teams in that state. The Blue Jays (7-5) beat Centennial High of Peoria, the defending Arizona Class 5A state champion, 9-3.

Unbeaten Lady Jays hope to take a swing at history

The slow-pitch version of Guthrie High softball nearly reached the state tournament last season, losing to eventual state champion Washington at regionals. And that disappointment is driving the Lady Jays this time around, Coach Kara Tarrant told the News Leader on Monday.

Crescent lifters bring home hardware from state meet

Crescent junior high and high school athletes competed at the OPCA State Powerlifting Meet on March 14, turning in a strong overall performance against competitors from across the state. Houston Wilmoth led the group, capturing a state championship in the 145-pound division.

Guthrie High School senior Jace Rainwater signed to continue his football career at Southern Nazarene University in Bethany, capping a standout high school career that included success in the classroom and on the field.

Bluejays Split Week in Nondistrict Play

The Guthrie Bluejays dominated Kingfisher on Thursday, cruising to an 8–0 victory. The Bluejays got on the board early with an Owen Wilder sacrifice fly. Wilder also started on the mound, pitching five innings with three hits allowed, seven strikeouts, and no runs in a run-rule victory.
