CJ Wilson rushed for 136 yards on just six carries -- two of those touchdowns -- as the Crescent Tigers (7-0, 3-0 in district play) powered past Western Heights 42-8 in a non-district game this past Friday.
The Tigers play Minco (6-2, 2-2) on Senior Night this Friday in a key district game that will have playoff implications. The Battle of 74 against host Cashion is the following weekend.
The game against Western Heights was really never in doubt as the Tigers jumped out to a 21-0 first-quarter lead and it was 35-0 by the half.
Wilson opened the scoring with an 11-yard run at the 10:40 mark in the first quarter and Tylan Neugent scored from 6 yards out five minutes later. Kade Varner, who kicked the conversion points, then found Boston Cox from 12 yards out to make it 21-0.
Crescent scored two more times in the second quarter on Wilson’s 56-yard run and Tanner Rice’s 15-yard run to make it 35-0 at the half.
Varner got his second touchdown pass of the night in the third quarter, hooking up with Chism Watson for 18 yards, before the Jets broke the shutout with six minutes left in the game.
The Tigers ran 35 plays for 336 yards in total offense, while the Jets had the ball for 48 plays and mustered 144 yards.
Varner completed 7-of-9 pass attempts for 72 yards and two touchdowns. Cox had five of those receptions for 50 yards.
Senior Night will start at 6:30 p.m.
