The Cashion LadyCats won the Class 2A regional meet at Cherokee on April 30 with 116 points as the Crescent Lady Tigers finished in fourth place in the team race with 81 points.
The two rivals started right off the block when Cashion edged Crescent in the 4 x 100 meter relay race 50.40 to 51.25, scoring 20 points to 16 points for the Lady Tigers.
The LadyCats then got a third place finish in the 4 x 800 meter relay for another 12 points as Sierra McCracken, Megan Shafer, Lauren Jenkins, and Addison McCracken finished 12-seconds behind Watonga for first place.
The two teams continued to pile up the points in the relays as the LadyCats edged the Lady Tigers in the 4 x 200 meter relay 1:48.38 to 1:49.83. The win gave the LadyCats 52 points to 32 points in the relays.
The LadyCats quartet included Abby Hobgood, Bella Woody, Williams, and Lamb. The Crescent quartet included Jill Watkins, Calen Cox, Reydon Walker, and Kinidi Taylor.
The LadyCats get another 16 points in the 4 x 400 meter relay to give them 68 of their 116 points in the relay races with a second place finish by the quartet of Woody, Hobgood, Williams, and Lamb finishing two seconds behind Merritt for the title.
The local teams would dominate the girls 100-meter race with Crescent’s Kinidi Taylor (12.55) second place finish, Reydon Walker (12.95) a fourth place finish and Cashion’s Williams (13.19) finished fifth in the race. All three would qualify for a trip to Catoosa.
The LadyCats would continue to pile on the points as Addison McCracken (13:41.43) finished in second place in the 3200-meter run, Hobgood (26.55) was good for second place in the 200-meter dash, and Sierra McCracken won the 800-meter race in 2:35.48. Crescent’s Walker finished in fifth place in the 200-meter race and qualified for Catoosa. Cashion’s Woody earned a trip to Catoosa with a fourth place finish in the 400-meter race. Addison McCracken would qualify for her second state event with a third place finish in the 1600-meter race.
In the girls’ field events, the LadyCats and Lady Tigers will be well represented. Crescent’s Taylor won the long jump with an effort of 18”11.5” and Cashion’s Lamb was in third place with a jump of 16”7.25”.
Crescent got a second place finish from Cox in the high jump with a
4’10” effort and a first place finish from Kinzie Bell in the discus throw with an effort of 117’07”. Cashion’s Issy Reeves will be going to Catoosa as a result of her second place finish in the shot put (34’02”). Breanna Thomas also qualified in the girls’ pole vault clearing 7’0”.
The two boys’ teams will not be sending the large contingent to Catoosa that the girls are as the Wildcats finished with 23 points and the Tigers finished with 14 points well behind Fairview’s 110 points that won the regional.
Cashion’s Gage Bedick got the only local championship in the 1600- meter race with a time of 5:02. Boedy Beutler got a second place in the 110-meter hurdles race to qualify for the state meet and also qualified for the 300 meter hurdles race.
The Tigers lone men’s qualifier is Jayden Perkins in the 400-meter race with a third place finish in a time of 54.65. Stone Fisher qualified for the shot put event as an additional qualifier.
Coyle qualifies two relay teams and sprinter
The Coyle Bluejackets qualified two relay teams and a sprinter to this weekend’s Class A State Track meet at Western Heights. The Bluejackets qualified the 4 x 100 meter and 4 x 200 meter relay teams over the weekend at Stroud.
The 4 x 100 team finished in third place to qualify running 47.47, finishing behind Cyril who won the race in 45.89. The boys 4 x 200 meter relay team finished in second place at Stroud with a time of 1:39.55 behind Balko High School’s 1:37.28. The quartet of Isaiah Lemons, Ethan Heller, Trace Clark, and Miguel Howell made up both teams for Coyle.
Lady Bluejackets Freshman Dnae Tillery qualified in the 200 meter race with a third place finish at 28.02 to earn a trip to Oklahoma City. Tillery also finished fourth in the 100-meter finals at 13.34 and will have to wait to see if that get her into the meet as an additional qualifier.
