Fasten your seat belt for Oklahoma’s leading automotive extravaganza.
The 42nd Guthrie Road Celebration, a tradition since 1984, will transform Mineral Wells Park into a motorhead’s paradise Saturday, Sept. 13.
From vintage muscle cars to sleek modern marvels, pickups and bikes, more than 350 vehicles will compete across 32 classes for coveted custom trophies.
Beyond the display of automotive artistry, visitors can savor local cuisine from food trucks, try their luck at raffle prizes, and enjoy family games.
The engines rev from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 901 S. Division Street. Spectator parking is just north of the park and shuttles are available. Admission is free.
“We have good music, beautiful cars, including movie cars; it’s a really good time, fun for the whole family,” said Freddie Lomax of Prism Bank, who will serve as master of ceremonies for the seventh year in a row. “We fill the park with cars.”
While city officials recognize 1984 as the inaugural “official” celebration, the local Street Kings motorcycle club held what many consider the true first gathering a year earlier.
Trophy sponsorships remain available through Friday, Sept. 5. If interested, please call Tim’s Body Worx at 405-2825014. Go to www.guthrienewsleader.net to check out the list of classes that are available.
