Several Guthrie Lady Bluejays softball players, and their coach, earned Class 5A-2 All-District honors last week.
Sophomore Kinley Duehning was chosen as the 5A-2 District Pitcher of the Year; junior Abbie Eichler was the Offensive Player of the Year; and Booker Blakley was named Coach of the Year.
Duehning was 15-6 in 27 games. She had 119 strikeouts and walked only 17 batters, with an earned run average of 2.19.
Eichler hit .474 with 45 hits in 95 at-bats, including 13 doubles, 2 triples and 6 home runs. She also had 38 runs batted in and scored 36 runs.
The Lady Bluejays also had three players named to the All-District First Team: senior first baseman Ashlee Eichler and outfielders McKenna Tucker and Ava Hebensperger.
Ashlee Eichler had 114 put-outs at first with only two errors for a .983 fielding percentage. She also had 44 hits in 98 at-bats with three home runs.
Tucker batted .451 with 51 hits, including 9 doubles, 2 triples and 2 home runs, with 23 RBI. In the field, she handled 81 chances with 54 putouts and only five errors.
Hebensperger hit .369 with 38 hits in 103 at-bats. She had 10 doubles, 3 triples and 4 home runs. On defense, she had a .935 fielding percentage with only four errors in 53 chances.
The Second Team was represented by Codi Hibbs (second base), Saige Driscoll (shortstop), Saylor Hamilton (third base) and Katelynn Siess (outfield).
Guthrie finished the season 26-9-1 and loses only Ashlee Eichler to graduation.
