Lady Bluejays slow pitch season finished

The Guthrie Lady Bluejays traveled to Jenks on April 27 to play No.5 Jenks and Sand Springs in a slow pitch softball regional. The Lady Bluejays went 1-2 and finished the season 13-11.

Guthrie played Sand Springs in the opener and would win 10-2. The Lady Bluejays would get 18 hits in the game as senior Elaina Clark led the way with four hits and two runs batted in. Guthrie got doubles from Clark, Ryann Waters, Katelyn Siess, and Abbie Eichler. Siess would pick-up the win.

The Lady Bluejays would then lose an 11- 10 heartbreaker to Jenks in the bottom of the seventh inning to fall to 1-1 in the tournament. The two teams totaled 30 hits between them, as Abbie Eichler, Ashlee Eichler, Waters, Clark, and Kassie Hall all chipped in with two hits each in the game.

The host Lady Trojans would take advantage of the momentum off the first game win to run-rule the Lady Bluejays 23-3 in four innings to end the tournament and Guthrie’s season. Jenks had 24 hits in the four innings as Guthrie also walked five batters and committed four errors in the game. The Bluejays had only six hits in the game with Jules Leach having the only extra base hit with a double.

Some of the players will not get much of a break as it is back to fastpitch travel season and tryouts for the 2022 fall team.
