As a city, we’ve made real progress on the fundamentals, from improving our water systems to making our downtown more accessible and strengthening public safety. But the question I come back to most often isn’t simply, “What projects are we finishing?” but rather, what kind of city are we building?

Logan County Burn Ban In Effect

Logan County Commissioners approved an emergency burn ban during a March 26 meeting, effective immediately and set to last through April 9.The ban restricts all open burning, including yard debris, brush, and other combustible materials, in unincorporated areas of the county.

‘Twister’ Truck Makes L.A. Stop

A piece of Hollywood storm-chasing history is making a special appearance in California before returning home to Oklahoma.“Jo’s Truck” — the iconic yellow Jeep J10 featured in the 1996 blockbuster film Twister — is currently on display at the PetersenAutomotive Museum in LosAngeles.

Last Lap at the Beacon Marks Farewell to Guthrie Landmark

The Guthrie Rotary Club Student of the Week is Silas Walsworth. He is the son of Lora and Peter Walsworth. Silas is active in FFA, Bluejay baseball and National Honor Society. He is the number 1 Valedictorian for the Class of 2026.

Spring Fling Fundraiser to Help Feed Hundreds

Each week, up to 300 Logan County residents depend on God’s Food Bank for meals, a reminder that hunger is close to home. On April 7 at 7 p.m., the community will have an opportunity to make a difference at the organization’s first-ever Spring Fling Banquet, held at Meridian Technology Center.

Beacon Drive-In car show set for March 28 in Guthrie

Acommunity car show honoring the historic Beacon Drive-In is scheduled for Saturday, March 28, in the theater’s parking lot.The event will run from 3 p.m. until dusk and is free to attend. Proceeds from the event will benefit local charities.
