Guthrie resident, 108, ‘thankful that everyone made my life a happy one’

On New Year’s Day 1916, a baby girl was born in Uncas, OK. The town is now underwater, under the reservoir near Ponca City., Oklahoma.Today, 108-year-old Vangie Clendenin lives at the Golden Age Nursing Facility in Guthrie.

Guthrie AJROTC defeats Clinton AJROTC

Guthrie AJROTC defeated Clinton AJROTC 839.3 to 704.9 in the 2024 National Air Rifle New Shooter League. Guthrie AJROTC was led by Alycea Reese who shot a 215.0. The remaining contributing members were Garrett Looney, Mason Triplett, and Tyler Lawson.

Lady Bluejays win six straight before spring break

Guthrie High School’s slow-pitch softball team went 6-0 last week to improve to 6-4 heading to spring break. At the Stroud Festival on March 11, the Lady Bluejays beat Stuart 13-0 and Crescent 16-4.
