Guthrie High’s boys basketball team earned its 20th win of the season the hard way on Feb. 13 against Crossings Christian School by scoring four points in the final 3.6 seconds to win 47-43 in front of a near-capacity crowd on Senior Night and claim second place in District 5A-1.

Guthrie High’s Lady Bluejays basketball team defeated Crossings Christian 49-23 on Senior Night and, fittingly, seniors Ania Morgan, Mariah Dightman and Kynlee Smedley were all in double figures with 17, 14 and 10 points, respectively.

Eight Guthrie High wrestlers, led by region champions Kaedin Herendeen and Bryson Hall, will compete in the state tournament, beginning Thursday in the Jim Norick Arena in Oklahoma City. He re nd een ( 113 pounds) went 4-0 in Duncan last weekend to push his record to 29-4 and secure his regional title.

Guthrie High’s boys basketball players knew they would have their hands full with the El Reno Indians last Friday night in a crowded Guthrie gym, and it certainly was the case as they rallied from a late one-point deficit and scored the final six points in a 67-61 win.

Guthrie High’s trip to the Class 5A Dual State wrestling meet was shortlived Saturday afternoon as they lost to No. 2, and eventual champion, Elgin 40-30 in the quarterfinals.

Guthrie High’s Lady Bluejays played, possibly, their best game of the year Friday evening against the top-ranked El Reno Lady Indians, but the visitors reeled off an 11-0 run in the third quarter that led to a 52-40 win.

The battle for playoff positioning in the District 5A-1 boys basketball race suddenly got a little tighter after visiting Carl Albert beat the Guthrie Bluejays 60-41 on Friday night. Both teams now have two losses in district play, with the Titans travel to take on Crossings Christian on Feb.
