Susan “Susie” Marie Ellison, age 74, of Guthrie, OK, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2024, in Edmond, OK. Susie was born on August 30, 1949, in Enid, Oklahoma to Floyd “Bud” and Marguerite “Mickey” (Disney) Griggs.

Susie married Raymond Roy Ellison of Crescent, on August 26, 1968. Susie was a devoted wife and mother to her family. In 1985, Susie started working for the St. Mary’s Church Parish in Guthrie and was able to stand by her husband when he was ordained a Catholic Deacon. Susie spent 28 years of service to the parish of St. Mary’s before her retirement in 2013. After retirement, Susie remained active in the parish as a member of the Catholic Daughters of America. She was always seen with a sewing or knitting project in her hands and loved spending time and spoiling her grandchildren and her dog, Russ.

Susie is survived by her children: two daughters, Sande Williams and husband Larry of Choctaw, OK, and Nicole Ball and husband Stephen of Edmond, OK; one son, Ray Ellison, and wife Angel of Elgin, OK. Six grandchildren, Ashley and Haley Schmidt, Kristen Hood and husband James, Ryan Ball, and Jacob and Drew Ellison. Susie is also survived by one sister, Sara Blair of Guthrie, OK. As well as several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, and one brother, Ronnie Griggs.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Tuesday, May 28, 2024, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with Rev. Fr. James Andrew Wickersham officiating. Interment will follow at Lawrie Cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Monday, May 27, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. A Rosary Prayer Service will follow at 7:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Mary’s Church Building Fund, 411 N. Elm, Guthrie, OK 73044. The family extends heartfelt thanks to the staff of Teal Creek Senior Living Facility, Angel’s Home Health, and Visiting Angels for their exceptional care of Susie in her final months.
