Steven Ovoyd Damron, 68, of Guthrie, Oklahoma and former Talala resident, passed away Tuesday morning, February 16, 2021 at Integris Health Hospital in Edmond, OK. Steven was born in Corona, California, on October 13, 1952, to Odie and Jean Damron.

The family lived in California while his dad was in the army. After the army they resided in Pawhuska on the Mullendore Ranch and then over 60 years ago made their way to Talala where he lived until 2017. In 2017 he moved to Guthrie. He was a hometown guy who graduated from OologahTalala High School with the Class of 1971. He began elementary school in Talala before consolidation of schools. Steve grew up in a ranching family where hard work was never done. Raising livestock and daily chores kept him busy. He had a variety of jobs along the way from ranching, oil foreman, flood adjuster for Sweet Claim Service, Claims Writer for contractors in Florida, and most recently chief inspector for TDL Inspection Service. Steve had one son, Ben, who he was proud of and loved greatly. They spent many days working alongside each other on the ranch tending to livestock or in the hay field. On January 10, 2018, he was united in marriage to Judy Thom Farris and they spent three loving years together. Steve enjoyed all kinds of woodworking. In his spare time, he enjoyed watching Westerns, being on Facebook, keeping up with the maintenance on the house and automobiles, or just sitting on the porch enjoying the sounds of nature and bird watching. He was a very kind person and would help anyone in need. He loved people, especially his wife, children, and grandchildren. Steven had many friends and will be missed by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents Odie and Jean Damron, sister Robin Damron, and stepdaughter Carrissa Farris.

Steve is survived by his wife, Judy of the home, and son Ben Damron and wife Megan, two grandchildren Gemma and Charley; sister Kandy Damron; five stepchildren, Melanie Dubois and husband Bo, Sondra Warren and husband Ronnie, Michael Farris and wife Britney, Rhonda Bell and husband Jared, and Trent Farris; thirteen step grandchildren, Destiny Hooks, McKayla Hooks, Harleigh Dubois, Maizie Dubois, Angel Travis, Cameron Travis, Madysen Farris, Everleigh Warren, Kendall Farris, Hadley Farris, Jaxon Bell, Katie Bell, Blake Bell, and many nieces and nephews and a host of friends and family.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, February 25, 2021, at the Talala Christian Church in Talala, Oklahoma, with Pastor Jacob Story and Pastor Tom Jones officiating.
