1963-2024

After a courageous battle with cancer, Micah Shane Kroeger, a longtime resident of Guthrie, Oklahoma, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on February 23rd, 2024.

Shane was born on November 23rd, 1963 in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Growing up, Shane’s family lived in Alaska and Oklahoma before they eventually settled in Leadville, Colorado. Shane graduated from Lake County High School in 1982. After graduation, he worked various jobs including US Gypsum in Southard, Oklahoma, Rocky Mountain Medical in Denver, Colorado and BJP Construction in Guthrie, Oklahoma. In 2005, Shane went to work at Control Fire Systems where he managed the shop until the time of his passing. Shane loved his job and the people he worked with. He called in sick less than four or five days in 19 years, faithfully had the shop open at least an hour before anyone else arrived, and if he was late a single day, no one can recall it.

As a kid, Shane was an intrepid adventurer at heart and loved to explore the forests around his home, play golf and ski. He also absolutely loved to climb trees. If he couldn’t be found somewhere in the house, he could usually be found up in a tree in the backyard. He was always up for a hike and guided numerous flat-land relatives up Mt. Elbert and Mt. Massive, Colorado’s two highest peaks. Shane was a life-long bachelor but remained very close to his family. He was especially fond of his nieces and nephews. He loved to watch movies, travel or any activity that included his family. Shane had an infectious enthusiasm for life, and he will be universally remembered as a sweet natured and gentle soul who loved to laugh and laughed often.

Shane is preceded in death by his father, Jim. He is survived by his mother, Theresa of Oklahoma City; sister, Robyn (Lester) Branch of Guthrie, Oklahoma; brother, Bill (Whitney) Kroeger of Oklahoma City; nieces, Haleigh (Shaun) Blackwell of Guthrie, Oklahoma, Brittani (Rich) Coggins of Crofton, Maryland, and Kara Kroeger of Oklahoma City; nephews, Ryan Kroeger of Saskatoon, Canada and Jay Kroeger of Oklahoma City; great nieces, Maddisen and Mallory Blackwell; great nephews, Grayson Blackwell and Liam Coggins; and last but not least, his beloved dog, Belle.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Thursday, February 29th at Shartel Church of God, 11600 South Western, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. He will be interred at Summit View Cemetery next to his father Jim in Guthrie, Oklahoma. Services are under the direction of Vondel smith Mortuary 4000 SW 119th St OKC, OK 73173 405-692-5503.
