JoAnn Elizabeth Andrews was born on December 24, 1941, in Mulhall, Oklahoma to John and Elma Andrews. JoAnn grew up in Mulhall, Oklahoma until the 6th grade. The family moved into Guthrie after her brother Jack finished high school in Mulhall. She was a cheerleader in Junior High, and she developed many lifelong friends while in high school. Her sophomore year she didn’t know it, but she met her lifelong love of her life, Sam Le-Grande in biology class. Sam and JoAnn began a courtship her senior year, and they were married on September 25, 1959, at First Christian Church.

Sam and JoAnn were nearing their 64th wedding anniversary in September 2023. JoAnn and Sam lived in Guthrie, Oklahoma where they raised Rodney and Steve. During the kids’ formative years, she attended all the boys’ sporting events. JoAnn could often be heard and seen in the sporting stands cheering the boys on when they competed. JoAnn worked at Townhouse Restaurant when younger and worked for Guthrie’s dentist, Dr. Drake for years. JoAnn was beloved by Dr. Drake’s family and office. She was able to work at Dr. Drake’s office for many years while the kids were in school. After the kids finished school, Sam and JoAnn relocated for a new job opportunity in Amarillo, Texas. They lived here for three years and were able to return to Edmond, Oklahoma to be closer to family. They worked as a wonderful team for seventeen years managing Extra Space Place across from the University of Central Oklahoma. The family enjoyed gathering and celebrating many holidays with JoAnn and Sam at this location. Sam and JoAnn retired and moved home to Guthrie, Oklahoma in 2011 where they became a large part of a retirement community, leading many fun activities for their community. Sam and JoAnn attended First Christian Church where they have been lifelong members.

JoAnn loved, loved her grandchildren and it was the highlight of her day bragging on their successes. JoAnn was also an excellent bowler and was on a bowling league for many years where she averaged a 170 score! She loved board games and loved to beat her family and friends at dominoes. She always had a beautiful tan and would brag to the kids that she had the better tan. She and Sam traveled and were blessed to see a lot of the country, including a 25th wedding anniversary cruise to the Cayman Islands, and Hawaii twice. They were even blessed to do an Alaska cruise with Sam’s brothers: Ralph, Willis and Frank and all their wives.

She is survived by her husband, Sam, son, Rodney LeGrande and daughter-in-law, Sharon, son, Steve LeGrande and daughter- in- law, Stefanie. She leaves behind four cherished grandchildren: Emily LeGrande, Kenny LeGrande, Cade LeGrande and Morgan LeGrande.
