1935-2023

James Edgar Fees passed quietly from our presence March 27, 2023 in Culver City, California where he spent his last years enjoying the company of his surviving son and grandsons. Born and raised in Guthrie Oklahoma, where he met his life’s love, Linda E Fees. The two began a family just as James embarked on a remarkable four decade US Air Force National Security career that took him from Pakistan, Turkey, West Berlin and other listening posts around the globe. San Antonio Texas was his final posting where he and Linda settled down and made their home. He spent the last years of his career with the Security Hill Cryptology Unit at Kelly Joint Air Base in San Antonio.

Following retirement, James and Linda spent many years enjoying life in Texas and traveling to their hearts desire. The birth of their grandchildren became their proudest joy and greatest love. Following the passing of his eldest son and two years later his beloved wife in 2018, James moved back to Guthrie where he enjoyed the company of his nieces and nephew and the memories of his life growing up in Guthrie before moving on to California to be closer to his surviving son and grand children.

James was a proud veteran but ultimately was proudest being a loving husband and devoted father. A kind sole and a gentle man, he was spare with words but made them count. Anyone who knew him could rely on him for friendship or a helping hand. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him as a friend, husband, father, uncle or grandfather.

Jim is survived by his son Kenton Douglas Fees and wife Elizabeth Nakane-Fees, and grandsons Clinton Cole Fees and Holden Charles Fees, all of Los Angeles. Also, brother-in-law Troy Douglas Wilson, Oklahoma City, and nieces Brenda Ray Jindra, Emily Ray Elliott, and nephew Steven Ray.

Preceding Jim in death were his devoted wife Linda Elaine Wilson Fees, beloved son James Michael Fees, parents Clinton Causey Fees and Ruth Helen Ulmark Fees, sister Thelma Jean Fees Ray and brother-in-law Bennie Edward Ray, and many cousins, military colleagues, and friends.

A remembrance and memorial for James Edgar Fees will be held at Dominion House in Guthrie OK. on January 13, 2014 at 11:00AM with a burial at Summit View Cemetery in Guthrie at 12:30 PM.
