Gerald was born in Guthrie Oklahoma on November 23, 1945, he was 75. Son of the late Harry and Gaye Duehning and stepfather Earl Hallett. Gerald passed away on Saturday December 19, 2020. He passed with his loving wife at his side.

After graduating from Guthrie High School in the Class of 1963, Gerald served in the United States Air Force. He returned to Guthrie and spent over 40 years working in the health care with his cousin Hollie Chappell. He eventually completed his bachelor’s degree at the University of Central Oklahoma in 2000, He always said he had to graduate before his last son.

Gerald married Clara Len Warren on September 4, 1976. With their union, “a his, hers and ours” family resulted. Gerald brought to the family Larry, Mike and Matt, while Clara brought Kyle. In 1978, from this union, James was born.

Gerald enjoyed spending time doing anything and everything with his boys and their families. He and Clara loved to travel and work his golf game into the itinerary whenever possible. Gerald loved to go anywhere but his favorite was Myrtle Beach. For the past 20 years he loved the time they spent with their traveling partners Harold and Sharon Wehr. He was a huge sports fan and a loyal follower of the Guthrie Bluejays and the Oklahoma Sooners. He is also known for volunteering his time to Guthrie youth sports organizations and being a coach and mentor to many kids around Guthrie. He took great pride in coaching his boys through football, basketball and baseball. As his kids grew up, he followed his love of golf to courses all around the United States. He also loved to remind all of his family that he was the “self-proclaimed champion of putt-putt”. Gerald’s love for supporting his kids continued with his grandgirls and all their activities. It even broadened his horizons with him attending musicals, concerts, softball, basketball, crosscounrty, track and lady’s golf. He never liked missing a game, From his hospital bed he was watching Kinley play basketball on facebook live. Last, but certainly not least was his love for his church family and dedicated Sunday school group at Noble Avenue First Baptist Church.

Generous, dependable, and kind are a few of the greatest compliments a person can receive. Gerald possessed all of those traits.

As his new life began Gerald was listening to his Granddaughter Madison sing Take My Hand, his favorite. While he will be missed, the family took solace in knowing one day we will be reunited again.
