Gene Louis Barnhart

Gene Louis Barnhart, 79, of Lenexa, KS passed away Sunday, January 31st. Gene was born July 24, 1941 to the late Eugene and Olga Barnhart in Guthrie, OK. After graduating high school, Gene earned a bachelor’s degree in Criminology from Oklahoma State University in 1963. On August 17, 1963 Gene married Gloria Wright. She preceded him in death in 2007 after 44 years of marriage. Shortly after their wedding Gene left for training in the United States Marine Corps, he attained the rank of Captain before separating in 1966. Gene worked as a Special Investigator for the Office of Inspector General Dept. of Education. Gene retired in December of 1996 with over 30 years of service. Gene is survived by his children, Bret Barnhart and Fiancé Sarah; Anne Fetterman and husband Stephen; three grandchildren, Taylor Barnhart; Cole Fetterman and Jack Fetterman; and sister-in-law, Linda Wright. The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Folds of Honor, Department 13, Tulsa OK 74182.
