Funeral services for Carol Ann (Hix) Rubio, 79, of Guthrie, Oklahoma, were held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, January 2, 2024 at Noble Avenue Baptist Church. Interment followed at Summit View Cemetery. Services were under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.

Carol passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 26, 2023 in Edmond, Oklahoma surrounded by family and friends who loved her. Carol was the daughter of William E. and Mary Ruth (Barnes) Hix. She was born July 25,1944 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Carol was a 1962 graduate of Capital Hill High School where she was a majorette with the band.

In 1962, Carol married her high school sweetheart and together they had two daughters, Kimberly Kay and Kelli Dawn. Several years later, Carol went to work for Kings Van and Storage in Oklahoma City where she met and married the love of her life, Secundino “Dino” Rubio. Dino brought three loving children to the marriage, Mary Virginia, Fermin Anthony, and James Dino. Together, Dino and Carol had the baby of the family, Dena Renae.

Carol was a stay-athome mother to Dena until 1985, when she went to work for Guthrie Public Schools driving a school bus. After many years of driving the school bus, Carol transferred within the Guthrie School System to be a teacher’s aide, where she assisted two very special little boys, Brandon and Kenneth. These two young men became a very important part of Carol’s life and she loved them as if they were her own children.

She is preceded in death by her father, William E. Hix; loving mother, Mary Ruth (Barnes) Hix; loving husband, Secundino Roman Rubio; sister, Judy Ruth (Hix) Cathey and her husband, Harrell Cathey; brother-inlaw, Tom Keneda; three sweet grandbabies, Beth, Payton, and Reece; and her faithful furry companion, Cody.

Carol is survived by daughter, Kimberly Kay Eaton and husband, Curtis of Guthrie; daughter, Kelli Dawn Anai and husband, James of Guthrie; daughter, Dena Renae Wooden and husband, Jeff of Guthrie; daughter, Mary Virginia Jaramillo and husband, Faustino of El Paso, Texas; son, Fermin Anthony Rubio and wife, Peggy of Las Cruces, New Mexico; and son, James Dino Rubio of Roswell, New Mexico. She is also survived by her grandson, Corey Eaton and wife, Katlyn of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma;granddaughter, Jamie Williams and husband, Wesley of Edmond; granddaughter, Ashley Willis - Cofer and husband, Chad of Blanchard, Oklahoma; granddaughter, Avery Wooden of Guthrie; granddaughter, Jari Rubio of Albuquerque, New Mexico; granddaughter, Jillian Rubio of Las Cruces; and granddaughter, Camille Rubio of Las Cruces. Also surviving Carol are her greatgrandchildren, Oaklee, Carter, Gerri, and Ava as well as many nieces, nephews, and friends who all loved her for her sweet spirit and loving nature.
