League of Democratic Women to celebrate 70th anniversary

The Logan County League of Democratic Women will celebrate its 70th anniversary with a community event from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 11, at Mineral Wells Park, 901 S. Division St.

The anniversary celebration will include recognition of the organization by Guthrie MayorAdam Ropp and remarks from Bettye Rector, president of the Oklahoma Federation of Democratic Women.

Several candidates for offices on the Nov. 3 General Election ballot also are scheduled to attend and speak, according to the organization.

Those listed include Kevin Dawson, candidate for state labor commissioner; Rhonda Eastman, corporation commissioner; Craig MacIntyre, insurance commissioner; Dr. Jeannettie Marshall, state superintendent; and Doyle Lewis, House District 38.

Federal candidates listed for the event are Jena Nelson, candidate for U.S. House District 5, and N’kiyla Jasmine Thomas, candidate for U.S. Senate.

The Oklahoma State Election Board confirms the General Election is scheduled for Nov. 3, with polls open from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The League said the anniversary event will provide an opportunity to celebrate the organization’s history while connecting with members of the community.
