Since 2020 A Very Merry Guthrie Christmas has been lighting up The Cottonwood Flats with over 100,000 lights and more than 40 displays.

A Very Merry Guthrie Christmas is a 501c3 public charity with the mission “to brighten the lives of the aging and sometimes forgotten citizens of Guthrie, Logan County, Oklahoma” (https://averymerryguthriechristmas.org).

Guests can drive through the seven blocks of lights free of charge November 25th through January 1st.

Along with bringing festive cheer, the group strives to provide and deliver Christmas gifts to the Guthrie nursing home residents and some less fortunate community families. Donations are accepted at the end of the drive thru.

On the third Saturday, December 18, there will be a Lights in the Cottonwood Flats Festival. In the southwest corner of the flats, near the intersection of 7th and Mansur Street, food trucks and pop up shows will be located to fill guests bellies and check of their Christmas shopping lists.

Fireworks will begin at dark, approximately 8:00 p.m. lighting up the skies to match the ground show. Attendees can bring lawn chairs or sit in vehicles to enjoy the show with fireworks shot from the east side of 5th street.

Parking for the event on the 18th will be available north of Warner Ave and the drive through will be closed during the fireworks show.
